Lesson Plans and Activities
For Preschool and Kindergarten (NSW)
Our Early Learning STEM Australia (ELSA) Program includes lesson plans for Kindergarten as well as 100+ activities for Preschool. These lesson plans and activities have been created by our team of STEM-education specialists to help teachers and educators guide children through our Experience, Represent, Apply (ERA) learning cycle.
Below we have included an example lesson plan for Kindergarten and a selection of Preschool activities that are available to teachers participating in the ELSA Program. We have also provided a summary of our zoologist unit for Kindergarten and a link to our Curriculum Tool for more information about how ELSA maps to NSW Early Stage 1.
Selection of activities for Preschool (NSW)
Educators participating in the ELSA Program have access to more than 100 activities via the Educator app that support STEM Practices. These activities can be undertaken by children in a classroom setting, outside in the playground, or at home. Click the button below to see a selection of our Preschool activities.

Example lesson plan for Kindergarten (NSW)
Teachers participating in the ELSA Program have access to detailed lesson plans that support STEM learning. These lesson plans include digital activities that can be completed on a tablet, as well as activities that children can do in the classroom, outside in the playground, or at home. Below is an example of one of our lesson plans.

Zoologist STEM Practitioner unit (NSW)
Our team of STEM education specialists have developed a STEM Practitioner unit for Kindergarten based on the roles and responsibilities of a zoologist. We recommend that this unit be utilised in Term 4 alongside the ELSA children’s app: Investigations.
